There is a lot of artwork available on the internet. Some free and some for purchase. Always be sure to check the free designs if they have any type of copyright with them. We generally like to purchase our artwork, so we know that it is okay to use. Respect the artist’s work! Don’t use it without permission! We are all artists when it comes to embroidery, and we don’t like to see a design that we have created shared without permission.
We found some really cute artwork for purchase online at Great Graphics Designs. Their artwork is so easy to digitize! It’s simple, with detail, but not too much detail for embroidery. Even if you are buying artwork, be sure to check the copyright notice to see how you can use it and if the embroidery can be resold. If you are not sure, contact the owner. Generally, they are happy to work with you for exchange to acknowledge where the artwork came from.
For our design today we purchased a collection of Halloween Spooky Cocktails. Notice in her copyright terms she states for personal use and small commercial. This means you could stitch the design out on garments that you are making, but it is not permitted for mass production. You do not have the right to “sell” or “share” the stitch file data without additional permission and most likely additional cost. We contacted the owner of the artwork to make sure we could share the finished design file with our blog members. We have not included the artwork. You can purchase at the link above. Once finished, as a courtesy, we sent an image of the stitched design to the owner to make sure they were happy with the final result.
