The Perfect Mother’s Day Gift – FREE Embroidery Design

Circle of Flowers digitizing series with tutorial videos

Surprise Mom with a beautiful Circle of Flowers embroidery, the perfect gift this Mother’s Day! To help you learn whilst creating her special gift, we have made a video series demonstrating how you can digitize this gorgeous design yourself.

We start off by showing  some basic steps such as how to assign your colors and secure your artwork.

You will then learn how to easily digitize flowers and leaves, how to add extra texture and dimension to the different elements and reduce the amount of jump stitches in your embroidery by using the many various great tools included in Hatch Embroidery.

At the end of this article you will find a link to download your FREE Circle of Flowers design.

1. Assigning Colors

First things first! Decide the colors that you want to use in the design.

Tip: Write the colors on a print out of your design and pull the actual colors to refer to.

In this video we will show you how to find the exact color in “My Threads” and assign it to your “Design Palette”. Your colors MUST be assigned in the Design Palette before you can use them in your design.

2. Digitizing the Flower

Once you have your image on your screen, you will want to lock the image to prevent it from moving around as you are digitizing.

We used the closed shape tool to digitize the flower. We show you how you use the Circle Layout tool to save time. This is a fantastic tool! You will see how to only digitize one petal and then use the circle layout tool to get multiple petals with one click! It is so easy and fast!

You will also learn how to change the stitch type, and change angles using the reshape tool. Finally, you will see how to change your underlay.

3. Digitizing the Leaf

In this video you will see when to use a right or left mouse click during digitizing. You will also see how to easily change from a straight to a curve point.

Tip: Leave your sound on, so you can “hear” your right and left mouse clicks! It will really speed up your digitizing!

We will use one of the 44 patterns available in Hatch Embroidery for the tatami filled leaf to give it more texture, then change the stitch angle to create that unique look just for you!

4. Digitizing the Flower with Center

Once again we will use the Circle Layout tool to quickly make multiple petals of our flower. You will see how to offset the layout tool center to give the flower petals a curved look. We will finish the flower using the circle tool to create a satin center.

5. Branching the Leaves

We show you how to use the branching tool to prevent excessive jumps.

We will also use the Block Digitizing tool to digitize leaves, apply pattern tatami fill to finish the set of leaves with a bit of texture and combine a tatami fill with a satin stem to give more dimensional look to our design.

6. Digitizing the Tulip & the Rose

We will show you how to use the Closed Digitizing tool and a Satin Stitch with Split Satin turned on to digitize large areas like our tulips to give it a puffy look.

You will see how using the Reshape Tool to change the stitch angle will give you tulip many different looks. You will also see how to use multiple stitch angles to give your tulip even more creative flare.

7. Stitch Player

When completely finished you will want to check your design using the Stitch Player.

You will also need to print out your worksheet with your colors and sewing order before stitching.

In the Output Design Toolbox Save your design file to .EMB first, then Export it to your machine format.

Set up your machine and you are ready to embroider!
